Simon Bell was always prominent in the chasing pack and eventually finished 6th in 32.54 and John Siddons completed a winning
team effort for Wellington when he crossed the line in 8th place in 33.35. Another great run from the in-form Dean Houlton saw
him back in 11th spot in 33.39 - carving 30 seconds from his personal best in the process. And not too far behind him up and
coming 17 year old Jason Hall did well on his debut at the distance to finish 21st in 34.39. Roy Smith recorded 37.13 for
58th place and right on his heels was 15 year old Ian Kimpton with a very promising run to finish 61st in 37.14. Jason Lovell
was well satisfied to finish in 38.51 after missing a lot of his winter training and he was just ahead of Anthony Gerundini
who was 108th in 38.59 and Daniel Hewitt 111th in 39.03. Dave Humberstone progressed in the second half of the race to finish
154th in 40.20 with Brian Fox next in 40.37 and Annette Bell first woman back for Wellington in 40.41. Colin Blagrove crossed
the line in 40.43 followed by Steve Campion (41.10), Luke Lovell (41.42) and Robin Johnson who clipped almost three minutes
off last year's time with 42.43.
A little further back there were good efforts from Robert Butler with 43.57, Paul Bargh 44.43 and father and son duo Jim and
Richard Diamond who went round in 45.13. Road running coach Anne Gilroy finished in 46.15 ahead of Nicholas Ford 48.12 and Jo
Campion 49.54 with Vicky Roach (51.36) holding off veteran Betty Stracey who did very well to record 52.21. Simon and Pat
Kimpton both enjoyed their runs with times of 53.17 and 55.00 respectively. And the Wellington contingent was completed by
Jackie Fawcett 59.02 and the enthusiastic Tracy Carnall in 64.08.

Lincoln Wellington's junior cross country international Matt Bowser has continued his excellent winter form with a convincing
win in the Lincoln 10k road race. He disputed the lead with Grantham's Paul Coleman right from the gun and the pair had the
race between them from halfway. A thrilling finish looked in prospect when they were still shoulder to shoulder passing the
Lawn for the final time but Bowser upped the pace and immediately opened a decisive advantage which was comfortably maintained
to the line. A winning time of 30 minutes 55 seconds equalled the club record for the distance and this was a terrific
performance from the 18 year old. He will now be turning his attention to the track season, and in particular the 1500 metres,
where the extremely demanding target of 3 minutes 45 seconds would see him on his way to the World Junior Championships at
Kingston, Jamaica in July.
