With the main races of the cross country season now imminent not too many of the Wellington squad turned out for the final
Lincolnshire League match of the season at Stamford. There were however a couple of notable achievements in the younger age
groups. New member Dan Cocking won the under 11 race in good style and looks a useful prospect. Fraser Oliver finished in
6th place with Jonathan Humberstone 11th, Lara Thomas 13th and Neil Humberstone 14th. Leanne Neill was a little further
behind in 25th position. Rachel Humberstone also recorded a good win when crossing the line first in the under 13 girls race.
Katy Campion just got the better of Josina Clarke in 9th and 10th places respectively. Ian Kimpton had a good run for 2nd
spot in the under 15 boy's event with Sam Delaney finishing 9th and Dean Houlton produced his usual consistent effort to pick
up 5th place in the senior men's race. Further back in the field Richard Diamond came home 24th with Steve Campion 32nd,
Brian Fox 35th and Jim Diamond 44th. In the junior./senior women's race Rebecca Cansdale did well to finish 6th with Jane
Ramsden 18th and Dot Fraser 19th. Recent Lincoln Schools winner Jack Ramsden finished 9th in the under 13 boys race but has
another year in that age group and he was comfortably ahead of Alex Thomas who finished 16th.
