There were some good performances from Lincoln Wellington athletes on the opening day of the Lincolnshire track and field championships at Grantham. None were more impressive than Rachael Nathan’s gun to tape victory in the under 17 women’s 1500 metres in an outstanding time of 4.32.1. This took seven seconds off her previous best and will place her very close to the top of the early season national rankings for the event. It was also a new Lincoln Wellington club record. In the same race Sarah Coates kept going well to finish 3rd in 5.30.7.

In the same age group Catherine Morton was a good winner of the 100m in 13.9.
