
UK Veterans Indoor Athletics Championships - Cardiff - 17/18 February 2001
Wellington athletes were well in the medals at the National Veteran’s indoor championships at Cardiff. Dot Fraser picked up a brace of gold medals in the V60 200 metres (33.42) and 400 metres (76.36) and in the same age group there was gold for Betty Stracey with 13.59.78 in the 3000m and silver in the 1500m with 6.34.89.
A good put of 12.20m earned Nigel Winchcombe a bronze in the shot and Judi Stafford also took the bronze medals in the 200m in 33.12 and the pole vault with a 2.20m clearance.
There was also a trio of bronzes for Denise Timmis in the 60m (8.44),200m (29.1) and long jump (4.70m). Pat Kimpton competed indoors for the first time and was delighted to finish 3rd in the 3000m in 13.58.34.
A useful run by Charmaine Donald gave her 5th place in the 800m in 2.38.4.
