Sunday 27th December 2009:  Results from today's LWAC XC Championships on West Common are now online.  Well done to all competitors and thank you to all helpers.
Wednesday 23rd December 2009:  A call for volunteers to help out at the LWAC Club XC Championships on Sunday 27th December.  Could anybody who can help out with marshalling or serving teas/coffees/etc please aim to arrive at the Jockey Rooms by 10am on the day.
Tuesday 22nd December 2009:  Rob Lewis's group will be training tonight and should meet up at the entrance to Yarborough at 6.15pm.  The Road Group will be doing their beer run tonight and should meet in the foyer of the Leisure Centre as usual.  Gary Warhurst's group will be training tonight and should meet in the foyer of the Leisure Centre.
Monday 21st December 2009:  Due to ongoing adverse weather conditions, the track will not be open tomorrow Tuesday 22nd.  None of the junior groups (Larry/Linda/Darrell/Dave) will be training.  Athletes in other groups should contact their coach to find out what the arrangements for your group are.
Monday 21st December 2009:  The LWAC Club XC Championships at West Common on Sunday 27th December will start at 11am.  Please register at the Jockey Rooms before 10.45am if you want to compete.  Tea and coffee will be available.  If you could bring biscuits/cakes/mince pies for afterwards, that would be appreciated.  There will be prizes for each race winner and for the nearest to predicted time.
Thursday 17th December 2009:  A reminder that all XC County Champs entries and associated entry fees must be with Dave Humberstone by 22nd December.
Wednesday 16th December 2009:  Christmas Training Arrangements:-
Tuesday 22nd December - Club night as normal - but track closed due to weather.
Thursday 24th December - Track Closed
Tuesday 29th December - Club night. Individuals should check with their Coach to see if a session is being scheduled (Note that Larry and Linda's group and the Junior sprint group will not be training on this night). 
Thursday 31st December - Track Closed
Tuesday 5th January - Normal club nights resume.
Tuesday 15th December 2009:  Rob Lewis reports on Sunday's Lincs League XC match at Louth.
Tuesday 15th December 2009:  The results and team League positions from Sunday's Lincs League XC match at Louth are now available.  Individual League positions are also online.
Wednesday 9th December 2009:  Congratulations to Hannah Dunderdale, who represented England in Saturday's Schools Combined Events International in Glasgow and finished in 4th individual place with a score of 3179 points including three personal bests, setting six club records.
Saturday 5th December 2009:  High Jump and Hurdles Session - Sunday 6th December - An indoor high jump practice session is taking place this Sunday at Yarborough Sports Centre.  This will be run by combined events coach Nick Smith, starting at 10am in the wooden gym.  It will be followed by a hurdles session on the track (weather permitting) between 11am and 12 noon.  All are welcome to come along and get some winter practice.
Monday 30th November 2009:  Darren Holian has drawn together plans and information for the 2010 LWAC Road Runners League.  Further information will be added as race dates become available.
Sunday 29th November 2009:  Congratulations to Ian Kimpton, who won today's City of Norwich Half Marathon.
Wednesday 25th November 2009:  Tomorrow's taster session (5.50pm to 6.30pm) has been cancelled as neither Alison nor Janette are available.
Tuesday 24th November 2009:  The results from Sunday's Lincs League XC match at Grimsthorpe Castle are now available.
Monday 23rd November 2009:  Shireen Timmis reports on some excellent performances at the Indoor Open meeting at EIS, Sheffield on Saturday.
Sunday 22nd November 2009:  Entry information and an entry form for the Lincolnshire County Cross Country Championships on 10th January 2010 at Riseholme College near Lincoln are now available.  LWAC members should enter via their coach.
Thursday 19th November 2009:  IMPORTANT - Chris Boneham has has issued an open letter about the future of the Lincolnshire Track and Field League.  There will be a meeting in January to discuss the League.  All clubs intending to compete in the League must send a representative to this meeting.
Thursday 19th November 2009:  Rob Lewis reports on the LWAC athletes who have made the top 20 T&F rankings this year.
Monday 16th November 2009:  Entry forms for the Lincoln 10k on 21st March 2010 are available online.  Also entry forms for the Primary Schools and Secondary Schools races.
Monday 16th November 2009:  The results from Saturday's North Midlands League XC match at Corby are now available.
Friday 13th November 2009:  Photos from the Awards Evening are now available to view and buy.
Friday 13th November 2009:  Entries are now being taken for the Northern Cross Country Championships at Blackburn on 23rd January 2010.  If you wish to compete, please give your coach your name, date of birth and the entry fee (£4.00 Senior/U20, £3.50 all others - no money no entry).  Dave Humberstone is collecting entries from the coaches and the closing date is 7th December.
Tuesday 10th November 2009:  The list of LWAC Award winners for 2009 is now online following the Awards evening last Saturday.  A new trophy was introduced this year, the Dennis Wingad Trophy for Outstanding Performance in the LWAC 5K Series which was donated by Jack Humphries, one of our senior members.

Monday 9th November 2009:  The committee for the coming year was elected at tonight's AGM.
Sunday 8th November 2009:  Club AGM - Monday 9th November - 7.30pm Yarborough School West Hall
A reminder that the LWAC Annual General Meeting will take place on Monday 9th November in the West Hall, Yarborough School, starting at 7.30pm.  Remember it is your club and if you want a say in how it is run then come along.  Better still, let us know if you are willing to get involved with the running of the club as we are always short of volunteers.
Sunday 8th November 2009:  Congratulations to Matt Bowser who shattered one of Lincoln Wellington's longest standing records when he won the Poppy 5 Road Race at Boston today in an excellent personal best time of 24m 17s.
Saturday 7th November 2009:  Well done to Ian Kimpton, who was over 30s clear at the end to win a cross-country match representing the Eastern Athletic Association against the RAF and Cambridge University at RAF Halton.  Also to new member Sophie Cowper, who finished 3rd in the women's race.

Monday 2nd November 2009:  Congratulations to Liz & Mike Couser (formerly Ward), who are the proud parents of Finlay Cooper, born on Saturday, weighing 7lb 11oz.  Best wishes to them all from the Sprint group and older members of the Club.

Sunday 1st November 2009:  Information about the U13 and U15 County Sportshall trials in Grantham on 12th December are now available.  U13 and U15 entry forms are also available.
Saturday 31st October 2009:  Results from today's National Cross Country Relays in Mansfield are now online.
Thursday 29th October 2009:  Annual Subscription Renewals - The membership renewal letter is currently being mailed out to all members.  These can be paid by post to the address stated or alternatively paid in person at the AGM on 9th November (7.30pm - West Hall - Yarborough school) where you will receive a discount on the membership element of your subscriptions.  Please write members names on the reverse of each cheque.
Thursday 29th October 2009:  The Young Athletes League athletes of the match for the final 3 matches are Grimsby - Megan Ball and Joe Dunderdale, Middlesbrough - Allison Mouzon and Tom Matthews, and Grantham Rebecca Wells and Sam Shuttleworth.  Can all these athletes please see Neil Campbell on a training night to collect their teeshirts.
Wednesday 28th October 2009:  Congratulations go to Neil Coney and Netty Wasyliw, who have won the 2009 Road Runners League Men and Women titles respectively.  Final tables for the Mens and Womens leagues are now online.  The league has been a great success this year and I'd like to thank all participants for their enthusiasm in representing the club throughout the season.  At some of the races we had upwards of 20+ LWAC athletes with the outcome that the results (and prize lists) have been dominated by our club runners.  We hope that the 2010 league will be equally successful and look forward to a repeat of the support that the runners have shown the club this year.
The league prize presentations will take place at the Road Runners night out on 27 November at the Wig and Mitre - further details will be published soon.

Wednesday 28th October 2009:  Virgin London Marathon 2010 - LWAC have received four club entries for the 2010 Virgin London Marathon.  These will be allocated in a draw which is open to any LWAC club athlete, aged 18 or over on the date of the race, who has been a member of the club at least since 1st April 2009.  If you would like to be considered, please forward your name and contact details to Anne Gilroy or Darren Holian.  The draw will be made at either the club awards evening at Burton Waters on Saturday 7th November or at the AGM on the following Monday.

Monday 26th October 2009:  The annual club presentation and disco night will take place on Saturday 7th November at David Lloyd Burton Waters from 7.00pm to 11.30pm.  Tickets £5.00 per person (price includes hot supper and free strip raffle tickets).  Please inform your coach of your intention of attending and your food order.  Please pay on the night.  Food choices are burger and chips, hot dog and chips, or veg. option and chips.  Please note that, if you have said that you are attending, we will expect payment even if you do not attend as we will already have had to pay for the food.  Any queries, phone Marie Phillips on 01522 885007.  Also any raffle prizes you can bring along will be gratefully received on the night.

Sunday 18th October 2009:  Results are now available on the Sportsoft website for today's National Young Athletes Road Relays at Sutton Park.
Saturday 17th October 2009:  Results are now available on the Sportsoft website for today's National Mens 6-Stage and Womens 4-Stage Road Relays at Sutton Park.
Thursday 15th October 2009:  Alterations to Yarborough Athletics Facilities - Lincoln City Council have informed us that work will commence on the laying down of new long jump and pole vault beds on the outside of the track.  This work is due to commence on Monday 26th October for a duration of 4-6 weeks (weather permitting).  It is anticipated that access to the track and infield area will remain unaffected during this period.  The existing jump pits will be available for use during this period.  All areas that are affected by ongoing work will be fenced off and out of bounds.  It is hoped that this work will lead to full certification of the Yarborough athletics facility and the return of track and field league fixtures after an absence of several years.
Thursday 15th October 2009:  Club Subscription Renewals - The attached table shows revised club membership subscriptions due from 1st November 2009.  Regrettably a modest rise is necessary to cover the clubs increased operating costs.  These rates will cover members for the whole year and can be paid to the club membership secretary (details to follow) or on the evening of 9th November at the clubs Annual General Meeting (7.30pm in the West Hall of Yarborough School).  Members will be eligible for a discount on the membership element of their subscriptions if attending the AGM.

Thursday 1st October 2009:  We have a range of track-suit bottoms in our lost property box.  Contact Dot Fraser on a training night to see if any of the property is yours.  If items are not claimed, then we will be making them available to any club members.
