Tuesday 29th September 2009:  For those who enjoy XC and courses with hills, CBBC's Sportsround filmed this year's English Schools Fell Race.  One of their presenters ran the Junior Boys race to give others an indication of what sort of a challenge Fell Running presents.  The programme is scheduled to be shown on CBBC at 6.30pm Friday 2nd October and again at 7.25am on Saturday 3rd October.
Monday 28th September 2009:  The results from the Northern Junior Road Relays in Leeds are now online.  Congratulations to the U17 Mens team of Sam Atkin, Nathan Page and Ian Maplethorpe, who placed an excellent 2nd in their race; and also to the U17 Womens team of Hester Talbot, Laura Donnelly and Libbie Read, who took the Bronze medal position.
Saturday 26th September 2009:  The results from the Northern Mens 6-Stage and Womens 4-Stage Road Relays in Leeds are now online.
Saturday 26th September 2009:  The Senior and Junior Northern Road Relays this weekend will take place at Leeds Met Carnegie's Becketts Park Campus.  If driving to the campus, you should arrive via the Church Wood Avenue entrance and park as directed.
Friday 25th September 2009:  Donald Bell, former member of Lincoln Wellington in the early 1960s, suddenly died of Leukaemia at Lincoln County Hospital on the 17th September, aged 72.  Don was coached by Ernie Harrison and enjoyed competitive running with fellow members such as Ken Barnsdale, Dennis Wingad and Norman Clark to name a view.  He also enjoyed a very successful running career with the RAF during his National Service years.  Don lived in Heckington and organised the Heckington 10 along with the grass track races.  Don Bell also has a son, Simon, who ran for Lincoln Wellington for 20 years until he moved to Bedfordshire.  The funeral is at Boston Crematorium on Monday 28th September at 2pm.
Thursday 24th September 2009:  There will be no training on the track this Saturday (26th) due to the Childrens Triathlon event at Yarborough.
Wednesday 23rd September 2009:  Geoff Powley reports on the English Schools Combined Events Championships, where Hannah Dunderdale gained selection to represent England at the Home International Combined Events meeting.
Wednesday 23rd September 2009:  Club AGM - Monday 9th November - 7.30pm Yarborough School West Hall
The LWAC Annual General Meeting will take place on Monday 9th November in the West Hall, Yarborough School, starting at 7.30pm.  All proposals must be forwarded to Darrell Helas in writing by Monday 26th October.  Remember it is your club and if you want a say in how it is run then come along.  Better still, let us know if you are willing to get involved with the running of the club as we are always short of volunteers.
Wednesday 23rd September 2009:  Club Awards Evening - Burton Waters Saturday 7th November
The club awards evening will take place at Burton Waters on Saturday 7th November.  This is the club's social highlight of the year where everyone can come along and celebrate what has been a good year for LWAC.  Tickets will cost £5 but this includes a meal and entertainment.  Further details will follow shortly.  Please can any previous trophy winners return their trophies to Geoff Powley on club nights as soon as possible.

Please note that there is no club transport to this event, full timetable and travel directions can be found on the Northern athletics website.  Teams are NOT in running order, if you feel strongly about running any particular leg please advise team manager Gary Warhurst asap.  If you are unable to compete for any reason also contact Gary who will have team numbers on the day.  Athletes are requested to arrive no later than 75 minutes before their event in order for teams to be declared and numbers distributed.
Monday 21st September 2009:  The Under 11 County Sportshall athletics trials will take place on Sunday 18th October in Grantham.  It is for school years 5 and 6 and for any child even if they have not practiced the events before as experienced coaches will be present on the day.  Contact Mary Johnson if you are interested.
Monday 21st September 2009:  The club 2009 T&F rankings have been updated.  Please let Kathy Warhurst know if there are any errors or omissions in the rankings.
Saturday 19th September 2009:  Three LWAC athletes will be competing in the English Schools Combined Events Championships in Bedford this weekend.  Joe Dunderdale will compete in the Inter Boys Octathlon, Matt Houlden in the Senior Boys Decathlon, and Hannah Dunderdale in the Junior Girls Pentathlon.
Thursday 17th September 2009:  Susan Mouzon has taken over as the Kit Officer for LWAC.
Wednesday 16th September 2009:  Information and entry forms are now available for the Louth Open XC on Sunday 4th October.
Tuesday 15th September 2009:  Photos from the Northern Plate match are now available at www.hsphotos.co.uk.
Tuesday 15th September 2009:  Results of Sunday's 5,000m and 10,000m County Championship races Grantham are now available.

Saturday 12th September 2009:  Well done to all of the Lincoln Wellington athletes who helped the club win the Northern Plate final today and to Ian Kimpton, who placed an excellent second in the Northern 10,000m Championships at the same meeting.

Thursday 27th August 2009:  Urgent Request - Is anybody willing to coordinate the team entry sheets and/or act as team manager on the day for one or both of the Northern Senior Road Relays on 26th Sept and the Northern Junior Road Relays on 27th Sept?  The deadline for team entries is fast approaching. If no volunteer is forthcoming, LWAC will not be able to enter these events.
Please can you let Darrell Helas know if you are willing to help out.  A quick meeting under the stand will take place on Tuesday evening (1st September) at 6.20 to try and resolve if anyone wishes to attend.

Wednesday 26th August 2009:  Results from tonight's fourth LWAC Summer Series races are now available.  Series results and series records are also now available.  Many thanks to all of the volunteers who give their time so that the series can take place; especially Anne Gilroy for organising the event, Rob and Sandra Lewis for processing the entries and results, Jim, Linda and Alison who worked on the finish line and also the marshals around the course.  Special thanks to Ian for helping at the finish and producing the series results so that we could announce them much earlier than normal.

Sunday 23rd August 2009:  Five Wellington athletes have been selected to represent the East Midlands at the UK Schools Games in Cardiff.  They are Ellis Whyler (Long Jump), Sarah Stanhope (Hammer), Joe Dunderdale (Javelin), Nathan Page (1500m Steeplechase) and Tom Matthews (100m and 4x100m Relay).  Good luck to them all.
Wednesday 19th August 2009:  There will be a Road Runners Pub night on Friday 18th September from 7.30pm at Old Mother Cullen's Well, on Steep Hill, next to Wig & Mitre.

Friday 14th August 2009:  It is with sadness that we report the death of the father of Matthew Moore.  Our sympathies are with Matthew and his family at this difficult time.

Monday 10th August 2009:  Trials for the Geoff Capes Throws Academy are on 6th September at Boston Princess Royal Sports Arena from 10am to 4pm. Anybody interested in attending should contact Darrell Helas.

Thursday 30th July 2009:  Results from last night's third LWAC Summer Series races are now available.  Series records are available here.  Congratulations to all runners who braved the conditions last night.
The final races in the series will be on 26th August.  Series runners are reminded to collect their numbers for Race 4 from the Race Desk at least 15 minutes before the start of their race.
Monday 27th July 2009:  Parking Space Extension At Yarborough Sports Centre - A planning application has been initiated to extend the car parking facilities at Yarborough by up to 133 additional spaces.  Details of the proposal including a site plan can be viewed on a notice board in the main reception foyer to the sports centre.  Club members have been invited to support this application to improve its chances of success.  You are invited to pass comments and feedback (in support or otherwise) via e-mail to Capital_development@mouchel-lincoln.com or via phone on 01522 836237.

Sunday 26th July 2009:  Congratulations to all of the athletes who competed for the club at yesterday's Northern Cup match in Hull.  Despite missing many key athletes, the team narrowly qualified for the Plate final on 12th September.  It is to be hoped that we can turn out a much stronger team for the final Northern League match next weekend and for the Northern Plate final itself.

Monday 20th July 2009:  Kathy Warhurst has updated the club 2009 T&F rankings.
Monday 20th July 2009:  Congratulation to the LWAC Young Athletes squad, who cruised to a convincing victory in the final YAL match at Grantham.  During the match, two long-standing club records were beaten.  Joe Dunderdale broke the U17M Shot record which had stood for over 25 years with a throw of 12.04m.  And the U13G 4x100m Relay squad broke an 18-year-old record with a fine performance of 57.7s.
Saturday 18th July 2009:  Susan Mouzon has updated the girls team list for the National Young Athletes Meeting tomorrow at Grantham.
Saturday 18th July 2009:  Street Athletics Community Coaching Day - Yarborough Track - 11th August - Following on from the Street Athletics Final, international athletes Katharine Merry and Les Antoine will be hosting a community coaching day working with LWAC coaches.  Whatever your age or standard, this event is a great opportunity to take part in sprints, hurdles, jumps and throws workshops throughout the afternoon.  Registration for this event begins at 12.30pm with the workshops taking place between 1pm and 4pm.  Any coaches wishing to participate should contact Darrell Helas.
Saturday 18th July 2009:  Street Athletics 2009 Lincoln Finals - Sincil Bank - 7th August - The 2009 Lincoln finals will be held at Sincil Bank on Friday 7th August.  These are a series of 60m races and anyone can enter on the day with U13, U15, U17 and U20 male and female age categories.  All participants get a souvenir T-shirt and there are medals on offer to the first three in each category along with the chance to represent Lincoln in the national finals.  Olympic sprinters Linford Christie and Darren Campbell will be attendance and there is usually a number of live artists performing and other events taking place.  Registration takes place from 4pm to 5.30 pm with races between 5.30pm and 7pm.
Thursday 16th July 2009:  The girls PROVISIONAL team list for the National Young Athletes Meeting on Sunday 19th July at Grantham is now available. If any athlete is unavailable to compete or has any queries, can they please speak to Susan Mouzon at training tonight or email her at susan.mouzon@lwac.org.uk.
Thursday 16th July 2009:  Results of Sunday's Lincs League T&F Match 3 at Grantham are now available.
Sunday 15th July 2009:  Rob Lewis reports on the BMAF T&F Championships in Birmingham and the English Schools T&F Championships in Sheffield.
Thursday 9th July 2009:  The 4th Lincs League match, scheduled for 26th July, has been postponed due to lack of officials.  It is planned for the match to be re-scheduled for 13th September, but this is yet to be confirmed.  The County Champs 5000m and 10000m events will also move to the new date.  It is also likely that the relay races at the 3rd Lincs League match on 12th July will not take place unless there are enough track officials present.  Please listen for announcements during the meeting.

Wednesday 8th July 2009:  A training run is being held on Sunday 19th July at The White Hart Inn in Ludford to start at 10:30am followed by lunch at the pub.  A contribution of £2 is being required.  For further information contact Gary Fenwick on 07515 474827 or Ian Mair on 07801 532337.  This is not a race but a training run.  All are welcome to take part.  The course is mostly off-road, maps will be provided and a drinks station will be set up about half way round courtesy of Brian Fox.

Wednesday 1st July 2009:  Entry forms for the U13 Triathlon County Championships are now online.  The event will take place as part of the 3rd Lincs League meeting at Grantham on Sunday 12th July.
Wednesday 1st July 2009:  The fixtures and results pages are now fully working again.  The website hosting service have cleared the problem introduced when they migrated to a new server in early May.
