Monday 16th March 2009:  Attention all Under 17 and Under 20 Athletes - We have been asked by Scunthorpe and District Athletic Club to compete with them in the National Junior Athletic League (www.nationaljuniorathleticleague.co.uk).  They are in the Humber Division with 7 other teams.  We can compete as 2nd claim athletes and are restricted to 4 male and 4 female athletes per match, these can be different people for each match.  There are 4 matches on the following dates and at the following venues: 26th April at Rotherham, 24th May at Hull, 14th June at Hull, 26th July at Rotherham.
If anyone is interested in competing please fill in this form and return to Neil Campbell by 1st April.  He is usually at the track on a Tuesday/Thursday night from about 7.30pm until 8pm if anyone wants to have a word/return the form.
Sunday 15th March 2009:  Heckington Show 1500m races, 25th July - LWAC have been asked to stage 1500m races for 11-17 year olds at this year's Heckington Show.  To enable these to take place, the club will require a small team of helpers to assist with manning the registration desk, track marshalling/starting, timekeeping and production of results.  If you would like to volunteer to help out at this unique event, contact secretary@lwac.org.uk by 18th March.  (Note that the Show date clashes with a Northern Cup/Plate meeting).
Saturday 14th March 2009:  Results from today's LWAC XC Champs are now online.
Thursday 12th March 2009:  Rob Lewis reports on last weekend's successful LWAC outing at the BMAF Indoor Championships at Lee Valley.

The event will utilise some of the perimeter pathways of the Common, and will cover distances appropriate to age and gender.

Prizes will be awarded to 1st, 2nd and 3rd in each Category, with additional prizes being awarded to individuals who record a finish time closest to their estimated running time.
Start times are: 10:25am (Under 11s), 10:30 (All other runners)
The registration point will open at around 10:00 to allow runners time to register and log estimated times with the officials.
Refreshments will also be available at the event.
Competitors, spectators and officials should be aware that Carholme Road (A57) could be extremely busy with traffic and that the pedestrian crossing should be used to transit to the Common from the parking area next to the Old Grandstand.

Thursday 5th March 2009:  The club is keen for somebody to get involved in the role of Fundraiser.  Last year, the club expenditure exceeded its income by around £4,000 - mainly due to rising transport and facility charges.  In order to keep membership charges to a minimum, we are looking for a fundraiser to explore alternative funding sources and grant award opportunities for various projects.  No previous experience is required, just a few hours (mainly in your own time) and a degree of enthusiasm is required.  Terms of reference for this role are available.  If anyone thinks they can help or would like more information, then please contact secretary@lwac.org.uk.
Thursday 5th March 2009:  It has been confirmed that the Club XC Championship will take place on the West Common on 14th March.  Apologies to any members who have been advised of the incorrect date of 8th March.
Thursday 5th March 2009:  The County Track & Field Championships will take place at Grantham on 9th/10th May 2009.  There is an entry proforma for LWAC athletes only.  Athletes wishing to compete in the championships should complete the proforma and give it (along with £1.50 entry fee per event) to Dave Wells on training nights.  All entries need to be with him by 14th April.
Monday 2nd March 2009:  Belated congratulations to Malc Bramhall, who won 2 events at the recent Southern Counties Vets AC Indoor Championships at Lee Valley.  He achieved two first places in the 200m and 400m, breaking the Southern Counties Vets Indoor Records, in his new age group of M50, making him a strong medal contender at both events in the British champs this coming weekend.  Dot Fraser competed in the W70 200m, gaining first place despite an injury to her heel.
Sunday 1st March 2009:  Final arrangements for next Saturday's Inter-Counties XC Championships are available on the UK Athletics website.  Please take particular notice of the Traffic Arrangements notice for how to get into the park on the day.  The timetable is also available.  We also have the finalised Lincolnshire female teams.  The male teams will be listed here if/when available.
