News April - June 2008
| Friday 27th June 2008: The U13 T&F Triathlon competition will take place at the Lincs League meeting on 13th July at Grantham. The triathlon will consist of Long Jump, Shot and 800m. Entry forms are now available. |
| Thursday 26th June 2008: Results from last night's second LWAC Summer Series races are now available. Apologies for the late start of the Junior races. This was due to the Schools meeting on the track over-running beyond their booking of the facility. Thank you to Sarah Kimpton for spotting the problem when one runner competed wearing their number upside-down, causing two number 86's to appear on the finish list. Series records are available here. The next races in the series will be on 30th July. |
| Tuesday 24th June 2008: Athletes who entered the County Pole Vault and Hammer Championships should see the updated information on the county website. |
| Wednesday 18th June 2008: The next LWAC pub night will be at the Pyewipe on 11th July. |
| Tuesday 17th June 2008: Transport - National Young Athlete League Meeting 4 - Derby Moorways. A coach is available for Athletes, Supporters and Officials participating in the next league match on Sunday 22nd June. The coach will leave Yarborough Leisure Centre at 9.00am prompt at a cost of £5 per head (officials travel free). To ensure seats, please add your name to the bus list which is posted in the club hut. For those wishing to make their own way to the stadium, find it here on Google maps. Currently LWAC are in an promising 4th position from the 16 clubs participating in the Northern 1 East division. |
| Monday 16th June 2008: Athletes are invited to participate in the Street Athletics event on Tuesday 24th June at Birchwood Leisure Centre from 6-8pm. Those participating will get the opportunity to attend the finals at Sincil Bank on 17th July hosted by Linford Christie and Darren Campbell. |

| Wednesday 28th May 2008: Rob Lewis reports on the Northern U17/U15 Championships in Wigan and also Tom Doe's fine performance in the CAU Inter-Counties at Bedford. |
| Wednesday 28th May 2008: Andy Dunderdale has prepared the provisional team lists for the 3rd YAL meeting at Doncaster on Sunday 1st June. If any athlete is unavailable or unable to compete in a particular event, they can either notify Andy at the club on Thursday or via email. Finally, a map and directions to Doncaster AC can be found here. |
| Monday 26th May 2008: A big thank you to everyone that helped in making the Young Athlete match at Grimsby on 18th May a successful day, to those that were involved in the organisation of the event and all those that helped on the day, the officials, scorers, lunch makers, drinks makers, parents and athletes. It was made even better by the fact that we won and are now joint second in the league. Rob Lewis has a report on the match. |
| Sunday 25th May 2008: A new page has been created for results of meetings that are listed on the various fixtures pages on the LWAC website. The page can be found here. The fixtures pages have been slightly reformatted and start with the next meeting in that discipline. This should make it easier to find forthcoming meetings and recent results. |
| Thursday 22nd May 2008: Results from last night's first LWAC Summer Series races are now available. Despite several finishers in the 5k race choosing to miss the funnel, we have managed to sort out the results. Series records are available here. The next races in the series will be on 25th June. |

| Friday 16th May 2008: Kathy Warhurst has been busy again - this time producing the latest club T&F rankings lists, with all results up to and including the county champs. Anybody who thinks they have a performance missing from the rankings list should contact Kathy with details of the performance and where the result has been published. |

| Tuesday 13th May 2008: Note that there will be no club transport to the Young Athletes League Meeting this Sunday at Grimsby. Athletes, Parents, Officials and Supporters are required to make their own travel arrangements. If anyone is struggling with their travel arrangements then please contact Darrell at secretary@lwac.org.uk or on 01522 826728, as some club members have offered to give lifts from Yarborough Leisure Centre on the Sunday morning. | Tuesday 6th May 2008: Well done to all the athletes, team managers, supporters and officials who contributed to LWAC's fine performance in the first match of the YAL in Jarrow. Match scores were Harrogate 360, LWAC 351, Chester-Le-Street 233 and Morpeth 195. The North East Division 1 league table can be viewed here. |

| Saturday 3rd May 2008: Excellent news for hurdlers, shot putters and javelin throwers! Starting from next Thursday (8th), Nick Smith, a Level 3 coach, will lead training sessions in these disciplines. He will coach every Thursday, alternating from Hurdles one week and Shot/Javelin the next. Athletes interested in these sessions should meet up with Nick at the western end of the grandstand at 6.30pm each Thursday. |

| Friday 25th April 2008:
Young Athlete League Transport - A team coach is available our first Young Athlete's League meeting on Sunday 4th May.
The coach leaves Yarborough Leisure Centre at 7.00am for Monkton Stadium, Jarrow. This is open to all athletes, parents, coaches,
supporters and officials. Cost is £5 per person (payable on the day), officials go free. To guarantee a place on the bus,
please reserve your seats on the bus list which will is posted in the club hut.
Reminder: Athletes wishing to be considered for selection for the first Young Athlete League meeting must submit their availability forms to team managers Andy Dunderdale or Neil Campbell or alternatively via their coach. These are required this week or at the Lincs league meeting on Sunday latest as team list will be posted on Tuesday 29th April. Our first match in this league is against clubs from Morpeth, Harrogate and Chester-Le-Street. For those wishing to make their own travel arrangements, directions to Monkton stadium can be obtained from the YAL website. |

| Friday 11th April 2008: If anyone would like to try their skills at orienteering, the Lincoln Orienteering Club would welcome guests on any of their summer series events in and around Lincoln. See link for details. These occur every other Thursday evening throughout the summer. If we would like to send a contingent of athletes on any one particular evening as a break from the track, they have even offered to set up a relatively longer easier course more suited to runners. |
| Wednesday 9th April 2008: Lincoln Wellington President, Dennis Wingad, has recently completed the signing up of a notable new member of the club. Well known local athlete Jack Humphreys (80) will now be competing in a Wellington vest. Jack has received the award for being the oldest competitor in the Lincoln 10k for the last ten years - doubtless his toughness comes from previous service in the SAS. The Wellington committee has decided to honour Jack with life membership of the club. |
| Tuesday 8th April 2008: The Lincoln Wellington AC website had its 250,000th visitor today since it was launched in late 2000. Many thanks to all of the club members, and others, who have made the site the success that it is today. |
