Saturday 15th September 2007: Rob Lewis has received confirmation from Northern Athletics that our senior teams are entered in the Northern Road Relays on 29th September. Rob also has the entry forms for the Northern Junior Road Relays and will bring them to training at Yarborough on Tuesday night for the relevant people to complete.
Friday 14th September 2007: Congratulations to Dot Fraser, who (we believe) has broken the British V70 Women's records today in the final of the World Master Championships in Italy. She took an impressive Bronze medal in a time of 79.44s. Naturally this is also a new club records, beating Dot's previous V70 best by several seconds.
Tuesday 11th September 2007: Update on the track refurbishment work. The contractors are behind schedule due to problems with their equipment. It looks like the work will now be completed at the end of September with the first training session on the track possibly on 2nd October (still to be confirmed).
Saturday 8th September 2007: Results from yesterday's Northern Inter-Club Plate Final in Blackpool are now available. With an under-strength team, LWAC finished 4th in the match. Congratulations to Ian Kimpton, Georgia Ball and Matt Houlden, our only event winners on the day. On the positive side, we had 16 improved performances and 13 better placings than the previous round.
Friday 7th September 2007: Northern Athletics have just supplied the timetable for tomorrow's Northern Inter-Club Cup and Plate Finals. Please check the track and field timetables to ensure that your event hasn't moved.
Thursday 30th August 2007: Results from last night's fourth LWAC Summer Series races are now available. Series winners are also available. All-time series records are available here. Thank you to everyone who put up with our temporary arrangements last night - we will hopefully be back to normal by next May. Thanks also to all of the officials, marshals and helpers who have ensured that the series ran as smoothly as possible. A special thanks to Anne Gilroy for organising this year's series and achieving record numbers of entries this year.
Wednesday 29th August 2007: Congratulations to Hannah Dunderdale, who managed to break 4 U13 Girls club records over a busy Bank Holiday weekend. At Rotherham on Saturday, she ran the 600m in 1m 47.8s and followed this up with a Shot Putt of 10.02m. Moving on to Peterborough on Monday, she ran the 70m Hurdles in 11.5s and finished off with a Discus throw of 27.32m.
Sunday 26th August 2007: The temporary courses for this Wednesday's 1k, 3k and 5k road races have now been measured. The 1k race will be a little under one lap, the 3k will be 2.5 laps and the 5k race will be just over 4 laps. Registration for the race will be in a squash court in Yarborough Leisure Centre. This should be accessible direct from outside (on the left just after you go through the first set of gates walking towards the track area). Maddie Wilson will also be offering a sports massage to all runners. There will be no set charge for this, but she would appreciate donations towards her costs.
Sunday 26th August 2007: Results from last weekend's County Champs 10000m and 5000m races in Grantham are now available from the Lincs County AA website.
Thursday 23rd August 2007: Results from the fourth Lincs League match in Grantham are now available from the Lincs County AA website.
Saturday 18th August 2007: Results from last weekend's Northern Knockout match in Hull are now available. By finishing in 3rd place in a very tough group, Lincoln Wellington has qualified for the Plate final (the only Lincolnshire club to make the finals). The final will take place in Blackpool on 8th September. If we are able to field a strong and enthusiastic team, we stand a very good chance of doing well on the day.
Thursday 9th August 2007: Congratulations to Matt Bowser, who yesterday won the latest Mizuno road mile in Belfast in a fantastic time of 3 minutes 54 seconds comfortably beating Irish international 1500m runner James Nolan into 2nd place. Unfortunately the time cannot be counted for ranking purposes because the course included undulations outside of the permitted criteria.
Wednesday 8th August 2007: Scunthorpe & District AC have been forced to cancel their Wally McLeish Open Meeting due to take place on 27th August. The cancellation is due to a serious arson attack on the facilities under the stand at the Quibell Park track.
Tuesday 7th August 2007: An updated provisional version of the results from Sunday's Northern League match 4 at Doncaster is now available.
Monday 6th August 2007: Working on the theory of 'better late than never', Jim Slater has sent in a report on the 3rd Northern League match held at Scunthorpe last month.
Monday 6th August 2007: The LWAC team in the Northern League cemented their position in Division 2 yesterday with 3rd place in the heat and wind at Doncaster. Highlight of the day was Nina Swaby getting locked in the disabled toilet and having to use her mobile phone to call for help.
Monday 30th July 2007: A brief report on the successes enjoyed by six LWAC athletes at last weekend's BMAF T&F Championships in Birmingham.
Thursday 26th July 2007: Results from last night's third LWAC Summer Series races are now available. Despite several finishers in the 5k race choosing to miss the funnel or duck out of the side of it, we have managed to sort out the results. Series records are available here. The next race in the series will be on 29th August. Please note that this race will use a different course. Updated information about the arrangements for 29th August will appear here as soon as we have it.

Wednesday 25th July 2007: The latest information we have from the City Council is that we will be able to train as normal on Thursday 26th as the work on the track will now start on 30th July and continue until 17th September.
Wednesday 25th July 2007: Thank you to all members who have promptly paid their facility charge. Based on our income from members to the end of June we have now collected approx. 70% of the costs we will incur for facility hire (up until facility charges are included in membership fees). If you have not yet paid your facility charge then please read this notice. Note that facility charges will be reduced accordingly from November to compensate for lack of access to track and club hut during upgrade work. Charges will be kept to a minimum to ensure costs to the club are met. Thanks to Dave, John and Maxine for collection of fees over the past few weeks.
Tuesday 24th July 2007: Two of Lincoln Wellington's athletes have been selected to represent the East Midlands at the UK Schools Games in Coventry in August. Georgia Ball will compete in the 1500m and Blue Haywood in the 3000m. Good luck to them both.
Wednesday 18th July 2007: The City Council have confirmed that the CARP upgrade work will not start until 26th July. This means that the 5k/3k/1k races scheduled for 25th July can go ahead as planned. The 4th race in the series, scheduled for 29th August, is still in doubt and will certainly follow a different course if it does go ahead because the cycle track adjacent to the athletics track will be unavailable to us. Further news will be given as soon as we have the necessary information from the City Council.
Tuesday 17th July 2007: The good news - at long last the repair/upgrade work is starting on the track at Yarborough. The bad news - the track is going to be closed and unavailable to us for about 6 weeks starting 26th July (to be confirmed). Please read this notice by Darrell Helas on what will be happening. The 3rd 5k race night will hopefully go ahead unaffected by this work, but for the 4th night we will have to use an alternative course. More details on this as soon as it is available.
Monday 16th July 2007: The final Young Athletes League match of the season takes place next Sunday. Read this notice if you would like to compete or take the bus to the venue.

He achieved 5.17m in the Long Jump, 19.86s in the 110m Hurdles, 2.90m in the Pole Vault and 38.57m in the Javelin giving him an overall points total of 5546. Well done, Geoff! |
Tuesday 10th July 2007: Congratulations to Blue Haywood who won a team gold medal in the European Mountain Running Championships at Cauteret in France last Sunday. Blue was the youngest athlete in the under 20 women's race and finished 5th overall. With team-mate Hannah Bateson taking individual bronze in the race the score of eight points for the two person team comfortably gave Great Britain a terrific first place.
Sunday 8th July 2007: Various items were left behind from today's Northern League meeting in Scunthorpe. There were two bags with spikes in them and a black top. If you think any of them may be yours, them email me.

| Thursday 5th July 2007: The Humberside League T&F meeting which was due to take place on Saturday 7th July at Quibell Park in Scunthorpe has been relocated to the Costello Stadium in Hull.
