News October - December 2006


Thursday 21st December 2006:  Following last Sunday's final Lincs League Cross Country match at RAF Cranwell, results of the match and series team placings are now available.  Series placings for individuals are also available.  Full results for the whole season are available from the Grantham AC website at http://www.rosegger.eclipse.co.uk/gac/xc/xcprogramme.htm.
LWAC runners with placings in the top 3 for their age group are:- U11G - Bo Haywood 1st, Catrina Thomas 3rd; U13G - Vicki Lawrence 2nd; U20W - Sarah Kimpton 2nd; SenW - Becky Rowley 1st, Sylvia Strangeway 3rd; U13B - Adam Taylor 3rd; U15B - Jack Skeet 1st; U20M - Danny Roome 1st, Ashley Smith 3rd.  
Team successes were U13G 'A' 1st, 'B' 3rd; U15g 1st; SenW 1st; U15B 1st; U17M 3rd; SenM 1st.  Well done to all concerned.  
Individual and Team awards will be made at the County Championships (Sunday 7th January, London Road, Louth).
Thursday 21st December 2006:  Lincoln City Council have now issued the 2007 Lincoln 10k entry form.
Sunday 17th December 2006:  An item of clothing was left behind at RAF Cranwell today by one of our junior athletes.  If you think it may be yours, please contact me via email or speak to your coach on Tuesday.
Thursday 14th December 2006:  URGENT MESSAGE  Those very nice people at Yarborough Leisure Centre have just telephoned me to tell me that they have had someone in to repair the holes in the track.  As a result, large areas of the track will be unavailable for training tonight and possibly longer.  Yarborough are supposed to be marking off the affected areas and will have a member of staff at the track during the training session tonight to help and advise on where we can and cannot go.
Sunday 10th December 2006:  Congratulations to Hannah Dunderdale, who seems to have made a one-girl assault on the U13 Girls national rankings for 2006.  She placed joint 16th in the 70m Hurdles rankings with 11.7s, 10th in the Shot with 9.06m, 14th in the Discus with 22.41m and 4th in the Javelin with 30.43m.  For more details see www.athleticsdata.co.uk.
Saturday 9th December 2006:  Results are now available for today's Open Indoor meeting at Sheffield.  Twelve LWAC athletes competed and brought home an impressive haul of indoor club records.  Well done to them all!
Friday 8th December 2006:  It was announced tonight that Lincoln Wellington AC have gained Sport England's coveted Clubmark status.  LWAC is the first athletics club in Lincolnshire to gain Clubmark.  Much of the hard work to achieve this has been undertaken by Kathleen Warhurst, the club chairman.  It was therefore fitting that she received the Clubmark certificate tonight on behalf of the club from Duncan McGill of the Lincolnshire Sports Partnership during the club's annual awards evening.
Friday 8th December 2006:  More good news on the rankings front, this time for our vets!  Malc Bramhall has been ranked 5th M45 in the UK at 100m with 12.0s and 10th in the 200m with 24.6s.  Dot Fraser has been ranked 4th W65 in the 100m with 16.84s, 3rd in the 200m with 34.83s and 2nd in the 400m with 81.49s.  She now looks forward to running as a youngster in the W70 age group in 2007.  Denise Timmis has been ranked 12th W45 in the 200m with 29.40m and 5th in the Long Jump with 4.60m.  Well done to them all!  For more details see www.athleticsdata.co.uk.
Saturday 2nd December 2006:  Congratulations to Jack Skeet, who is in the U15 Boys national rankings at 12th place in the 800m with 2m 03.24s and 20th spot in the 1500m rankings with 4m 21.4s.  For more details see www.athleticsdata.co.uk.
Friday 1st December 2006:  The results from last Sunday's third Lincs League XC match in Woodhall Spa are now available.
Tuesday 28th November 2006:  Well done to Mary-ann Phillips, who is ranked joint 20th U15 Girl in the UK at 100m for 2006 for her excellent 12.7s run at Boston back in August.  For more details see www.athleticsdata.co.uk.
Tuesday 28th November 2006:  Adie Marston has produced a brief report on some excellent performances at the Indoor Open Meeting in Sheffield last Saturday.
Tuesday 28th November 2006:  Rob Lewis reports on 2 excellent performances at Sunday's Leeds Abbey Dash 10k.
Sunday 26th November 2006:  The annual LWAC Awards evening and disco will take place on Friday 8th December at Our Lady's Church Hall, Cabourne Avenue, Ermine; starting at 7.30pm.  Further details are available from Anne Gilroy on training evenings.
Sunday 26th November 2006:  The initial fixture list for the track and field season 2007 is now available.  It includes 2006-2007 indoor fixtures where I have been advised of them.  If you are aware of any dates/venues/fixtures missing from the list, please tell me.
Sunday 26th November 2006:  If anybody found a door key at the cross-country at Woodhall Spa, could they please contact Tony Woollard.
Wednesday 22nd November 2006:  New member Sarah Davey has produced her first report for the club, about the recent training weekend in Wales.
Tuesday 21st November 2006:  Best wishes to Kathy Warhurst, who will be attending the UK Athletics national finals of the Volunteer of the Year awards.  The awards evening is being held next Saturday.  Kathy won the East Midlands Club Officer of the Year award earlier in the year and is now in the running to follow this up with the national award.  Good luck to her!
Tuesday 14th November 2006:  The committee for the coming year was elected at last night's AGM.  The new club constitution is now available online.
Wednesday 1st November 2006:   The results from the second Lincs League match on the season at Hubbards Hills, Louth is now available.  Also available are the directions and programme for the 3rd match at Woodhall Spa on 26th November.
Monday 30th October 2006:   The agenda for the LWAC AGM on 13th November is now available online.
Sunday 22nd October 2006:   The SportSoft website now has the results of yesterday's National Road Relays in Sutton Park for Men (6-stage) and Women (4-stage).
Friday 20th October 2006:   The location and programme for match 2 of the Lincs Cross-Country League, 29th October, Hubbard's Hills, Louth, are now available here.
Tuesday 17th October 2006:  Another report from Karri Davey, this time on the first Lincs League XC match of the season at Skegness.
Tuesday 10th October 2006:  Karri Davey has produced a report on the performances of our young athletes at the recent Northern Road Relays at Sport City in Manchester.

Sunday 1st October 2006:  The LWAC Annual General Meeting will take place on Monday 13th November at Our Lady's Church Hall in  Ermine, starting at 7.30pm.  All proposals must be given to Simon Kimpton in writing by Thursday 19th October.
