News July - September 2003


Monday 29th September 2003:  The North of England Junior Road Relays will take place next Sunday at Silksworth Sports Complex, near Sunderland. Silksworth is approx 1 mile towards Sunderland centre from the A19 on the A690 Durham - Sunderland Road.  It is on the right hand side going into Sunderland. The timetable for races is U13G at 11.45am, U13B at 12.30pm, U15G at 1.30pm, U15B at 2.15pm, U17W at 3.15pm, and U17M at 4.00pm.
Monday 22nd September 2003:  The timetable for next Sunday's Lincolnshire Road Relay championships is now available.
Sunday 21st September 2003:  Photos from today's Woodhall Spa 10k race.
Saturday 20th September 2003:  A selection of photos of the Lincoln Wellington team during last weekend's Round Norfolk Relay is now available.  If anyone else has any photos please let me know at info@lwac.org.uk.
Sunday 14th September 2003:  Well done to all or the Lincoln Wellington runners, escorts and support team for completing the Round Norfolk Relay this weekend.  Preliminary results show that the team placed 9th in the Club class and 26th overall - a significant improvement on last year's debut performance.  Special mention must go to Trish Penistan for being the highest placed Wellington runner in any leg.
Thursday 11th September 2003:  Rob Lewis reports on last weekend's Northern Mens Division 2 playoff at Cleckheaton, where the Wellington men qualified for Division 1 next year.
Wednesday 10th September 2003:  Louth AC have published the results of the fifth and final Wold Dash races.

Wednesday 3rd September 2003:  Read Rob Lewis's report on last Sunday's final Lincs League match of the season at Grantham.
Monday 1st September 2003:  The Louth AC Open Cross Country meeting, the traditional season opener, will be on 5th October this year.  An entry form is available here.
Tuesday 19th August 2003:  Rob Lewis reports on the fantastic performance by the combined mens and womens team in the BAL Plate Final in Bedford, and also Tom Duffield's latest club record breaking performance in the AAA U17/U15 Championships in Sheffield.
Sunday 17th August 2003:  Kathy Warhurst has been trawling through more boxes of old results and there are a number of new records on the web site now.
Thursday 14th August 2003:  Results from last night's LWAC Summer Road Race Series races are now availableThe series results are also available.
Sunday 10th August 2003:  Results for last month's Spilsby Show 6 are now available online.
Sunday 10th August 2003:  I'm sure Rob Lewis waited until I was on holiday to start producing several race reports!  Catch up with the LWAC news from the BAL Knockout Cup Semi-Final in Derby, Rachel Nathan's run in the European Junior Olympics festival in ParisTrafford AC Open Meeting in Manchester, third Lincs League meeting in Grantham, Heckington Show, Geoff Powley's performance in the BMAF Pentathlon Championships in Solihull, the Northern Mens and Northern Womens league matches in Grantham, Rachel Nathan's run in the Grand Prix meeting at Crystal Palace, and Jenny Pacey's victory in the NoEAA Heptathlon championships in Hexham.
Saturday 9th August 2003:  Louth AC have published the results of the fourth Wold Dash races.  The final date in the series is 3rd September.
Sunday 20th July 2003:  Following today's course in Sheffield, we now have 5 new Level 1 coaches.  This will enable us to improve our already strong coaching support for athletes.
Thursday 17th July 2003:  Results from last night's LWAC Summer Road Race Series races are now available.  The final date in the series is 13th August.
Wednesday 16th July 2003:  Rob Lewis reports on the North of England Clubs Cup match in Derby, including a new club record Pole Vault by Hayley Fox.
Monday 14th July 2003:  Read Rob Lewis's reports on the English Schools T&F Championships in Sheffield and the World Masters T&F Championships in Puerto Rico.
Saturday 12th July 2003:  On the final day of competition in the English Schools Athletics Championships, Tom Duffield raced home to an excellent win in the final of Junior Boys 400m, finishing in a time of 51.08secs.  Jason Hall came 8th in the Senior Boys 2000m steeplechase in 6mins 18.76secs.  Rachael Nathan crossed the line in 2nd place in the Senior Girls 3000m, finishing at 9mins 39.34secs.
Saturday 12th July 2003:  Louth AC have published the results of the third Wold Dash races.  The next date in the series is 6th August.
Saturday 12th July 2003:  Rob Lewis reports on last weekend's Northern Mens League and Northern Womens League matches in Grimsby.
Friday 11th July 2003:  At the first day of the English Schools Athletics Championships, Tom Duffield ran a PB and won his heat comfortably in 52.75secs - the fastest of all the heats by far and comfortably beating the favourite.  Lydia Chamberlin finished 8th in her heat in 27.12secs, sadly not managing to qualify for the final.
Wednesday 9th July 2003:  Congratulations to Rachael Nathan, who has been selected to represent Great Britain and Northern Ireland in the forthcoming European Youth Olympics in Paris. Rachael will be contesting the 3000m which takes place on the evening of Wed July 30th in the Sebastien Charlety Stadium. Forty eight nations will be taking part in the Games with ten different sports being represented. The GB team will be travelling out on Sat July 26th and returning the following Saturday with the various events taking place between 28-31 July.
Tuesday 8th July 2003:  Lincoln Wellington athletes Rachael Nathan, Jason Hall, Lydia Chamberlin and Tom Duffield will be representing Lincolnshire Schools at this years English Schools Athletics Championships at Don Valley Stadium Sheffield on July 11th/12th. Rachael is the reigning English Schools intermediate girls 3000m champion but this year moves into the senior girls age group. She recently returned from a break in competition with a win over 800m at the Lincolnshire Schools Championships and followed this up by taking the Anglian Schools 1500m title. Jason Hall will be making his English Schools debut in the senior boys 2000metres steeplechase. He qualified for the event by winning the Anglian Schools title impressively in a time of 6.07.4 which places him in the top six in the country in his age group. Lydia Chamberlin will be contesting the intermediate girls 200m. Tom Duffield will be running in the junior boys 400m and will also be making his debut at the English Schools Championships. He recently won both the Lincolnshire Schools and the Anglian Schools titles over 400m and his personal best time of 53.3 puts him just 0.7seconds behind the top ranked time in his category.
Thursday 3rd July 2003:  Congratulations to Nigel Winchcombe, who has just won the M40-44 Hammer event at the World Masters Athletics Championships in Puerto Rico with a throw of 49.81m.
Wednesday 2nd July 2003:  The timetable for the 2003-2004 Cross Country season is now beginning to take shape.  Check out our Cross Country Fixtures page.  There are still quite a few blank dates and venues, but these will slowly be resolved over the next few months.
