in Brisbane, Australia between 4-14 July. Read a report here. Tuesday 24th July 2001: I have now almost caught up with all results
and one that caught my eye was Richard Blagrove's fine run in a 800m race at
Stretford on 03 July. Here, he ran a personal best 1 min 53.01 secs for second
place. This time is only a second outside Ian Mansfield's under 20 club record. Jenny Pacey, Hayley Brylewski and Richard Duffin have been selected to take
part in the England Schools Combined Events championships at Hull in September. Rachael Nathan's international debut got off to a winning start!! Read
Rob's report here. Saturday 21st July 2001: I have been away in Australia for the last
couple of weeks competing in the World Veterans Athletics championships at Brisbane.
Also competing there were Dot Fraser, Judi Stafford and Denise Timmis. A report
on these championships will be available soon. While I have been away, there
have been some outstanding individual and team performances. Pride of place goes to Rachael Nathan who
is the new English Schools Inter Girls Athletics Champion over 3000m. At
Exeter (July 6th/7th), she competed against girls a year older than herself and in a remarkable
run, finished more than the length of the home straight ahead of the runner
up, just missing the championship best performance. The sky is the limit for Rachael it seems, and a sparkling international career
looks very likely for her. She starts her international career by representing
England in the home countries schools international taking place today in Tullamore,
Ireland. She has also been notified that she has been selected for England under
19's in an international at Bole in France on Sunday 29th July. To achieve this
at only 15 years of age just shows what an exceptional young athlete, Rachael
is!!! There were 3 other Lincoln Wellington Athletes who competed at Exeter. Matt
Bowser, Rowena Harrison
and Jenny Pacey have joined the elite ranks of young school athletes who
have competed with distinction for Lincolnshire against the best opposition in
England. Read Rob's report from
Exeter. There was an outstanding team performance by the men in their 3rd Northern
Mens League Division 2 SE match at Derby on July 7th. The team won the match
and now only have to turn up in the last match at Barnsley to guarantee a place
in the promotion match for Division 1. Like last year, the team will want to
finish the league season as champions. Read
Rob's report on this match. Many of the clubs athletes took part in the latest Lincs League match at Lincoln
on July 8th. Read Rob's report on
this. Sunday 1st July 2001: From tomorrow I will be on holiday until 18th
July. This site will not be updated until I get back. There will of course be
many performances that I will miss while I am away. If you would like your results
to be included on my site, please email them to me and I will add them when
I get back. Any reports would be welcome too. Good luck to all athletes competing
in events while I am away.
